Early in 2011, the Judicial Review board ruled in favour of those individuals who had been mis-sold on a PPI Claim by their lenders, and required the banks and lenders to refund all those who were mis-sold on a policy they did not need, or were not aware that they had been charged for.
After the ruling, hundreds of thousands of individuals filed a claim, and those who were wrongfully denied if they had filed in the past, also re-filed their claim with the Ombudsman Office.
Not only did the banks see an increase in claims, but they received so many claims and complaints that they had to request an extension to repay them, due to the backed up claims which were on hold, due to the Judicial proceedings, deciding whether or not the banks and lenders were going to have to repay the consumers who had been mis-sold on a PPI policy.
