Latest News On PPI- CAB Advices People to Make DIY PPI Claims

ppi claimsDue to the recent PPI mis-selling scandal, the high court ruled that banks represented by BBA, lost the case regarding PPI complaints handling.

The case was from these banks selling insurance alongside loans (and other credit), which was often without providing required information to consumers.

So, when filing a claim against these lenders, if you had not filed one prior to the ruling, the first thing to do is file a complaint. You will file it with the lender you obtained the loan from. After this ruling, most claims will be paid out, and are not going to be rejected as they had been for years in the past. However, if you don’t hear back on your claim (or if your claim is rejected), after the 8 week time period has lapsed, you can formally file a complaint with the Financial Ombudsman Services (FOS), who will decide on your claim, and whether or not it was properly rejected. In most cases (about 90%) of claims which were rejected, will be over turned by FOS, and you should expect a payout from the lender.

Since the ruling earlier this year, filing a claim on your own is much easier to do, and you will most likely be paid out on the claim fairly quickly.
