Barclays is top of the bank complaints league table with more complaints per customer than any of its major rivals. There were 250,667 official gripes were made against it in the first half of the year, representing approximately 1.19% of its 21 million UK customers.

Barclays and Lloyds were the most complained about banks during the first six months of this year, the Financial Ombudsman Service revealed today as it published the complaints record of major financial institutions for the first time.A total of 8,283 complaints were made about Barclays – 12 per cent of the total made about the financial services industry.

The most complaints across all categories were about Lloyds TSB, which mirrors the second half of last year. Nothing changes with banks and it appears they are allowed to get away with ripping us all of day after day, year after year – a few pence here and a few thousand pounds there. It all adds up to billions in bank profits.
